Learning & Teaching Expo 2023

The Learning and Teaching Expo 2023 concluded successfully. The 3-day event attracted over 16,000 participants, shattering previous records for attendance. Under the theme ‘Shaping Education for a World of Change’, this year’s Expo was the largest ever, bringing together over 400 government officials, education experts, scholars, and school leaders from the local, mainland, and international communities. With over 270 thematic speeches, seminars, open classes and exhibitions, it offered a professional platform for educators to network with one another.

Let us review the wonderful moments together now:

Ten theatres were established to cover major educational issues, including artificial intelligence, educational development and collaboration in the Greater Bay Area, student development, and mental and physical well-being.

More than 520 booths were gathered to showcase brand-new educational resources and solutions.

Professor Rose Luckin from the UCL Knowledge Lab at University College London delivered a keynote, emphasising that while AI excels at certain cognitive tasks, human intelligence, such as creativity, empathy, and higher-order thinking skills, remains difficult to replicate by machines.

Professor Hu Weiping, the Director of the Key Laboratory of Modern Teaching Technology, Ministry of Education, shared insights on how to use technology to cultivate national talents and equip students from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau with skills for innovation and technological development, thereby boosting integration among the three regions.

The InnoSTEMer Theatre exhibited the learning outcomes of teachers and students in STEAM and Maker education.

Primary and secondary school students actively engaged in conversation with guests to introduce their works.

The Student Ambassador Programme was launched at this year's Expo, with around 30 students from HKFYG Lee Shau Kee College, Ying Wa College, Shatin Pui Ying College, Ying Wa Primary School, and Po Kok Primary School serving as student ambassadors.

The student ambassadors guided Dr Choi Yuk-lin, JP, Secretary for Education, and other guests around the Expo's interesting programmes and main exhibition areas.
