In line with the latest education policies, EdCity is organising the second “Student Innovation Competition” for the 2025/26 academic year to cultivate talents with innovative ideas and technology knowledge. The competition will maintain its format of proposal submissions and online presentations.
The ‘Student Innovation Competition 2025/26’ aims to unite creative minds from schools across Hong Kong to address educational sustainability challenges through innovative technology. Through teamwork, participating students will develop cutting-edge solutions and showcase their innovative capabilities and practical achievements to the public.
- EdCity aims to inspire students’ innovative thinking, strengthen their collaboration skills, and encourage them to apply technology knowledge across educational and social domains to tackle sustainable development challenges
- Enhance students’ awareness of educational sustainable development by helping them identify current educational challenges through hands-on exploration and collaborative discussion, ultimately developing innovative solutions
Theme: Ideal Community · Creative Future
- Students must focus on challenges that current or future society may face
- Consider how innovative technology can help build a better ideal community
- Focus topics can include educational development, elderly services, or environmental conservation. Students are encouraged to draw inspiration from daily life and exercise creativity
- When writing proposals, students should apply innovative thinking, information technology, and artificial intelligence to develop effective solutions for ideal educational communities through teamwork
- Students can reference the “Sustainable Development Goals” (SDGs) to define their proposal’s scope and focus
The competition will be divided into three categories:
P4 to P6
S1 to S3
S4 to S6
Entry Requirements
- Participants may compete in teams of 2 to 6 members
- Team members must be from the same school
- Teams must be recommended and registered by a school teacher, with no limit on the number of teams per school
- For schools with more than 30 teams, please email the group list and student information to alice.kwan@hkecl.net
- All entries must be original student work
- Languages: Chinese or English (presentations can be in Cantonese, English, or Mandarin)

3rd October (Friday) 2025 to 14th January (Wednesday) 2026
Awards
- Champion, First Runner-up, Second Runner-up, and Merit Awards for each category
- Special awards include Best Presentation Team, Most Creative Solution, Best Exhibition Team, and Best AI Application (one team each)
- Finalist teams will compete for Best Exhibition Team

Creativity, content and functionality, feasibility, benefits and impact, and quality
