Hong Kong Education City Limited (EdCity) is a wholly-owned company of the Government of HKSAR. Our portal, EdCity.hk, is a one-stop professional educational portal in Hong Kong which incorporates information, resources, interactive communities and online services, and promotes the use of information technology (I.T.) in improving the effectiveness of teaching and learning. We are now looking for a high caliber professional to join our dynamic team in the following position.
Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze user requirements and perform system design according to project requirements and best practices;
- Develop, test, document and deploy software applications;
- Provide guidance to developers in completing project tasks;
- Assist in user support, project management and liaison with external parties;
- Collaborate with other departments to improve system development, implementation, and operation;
- Evaluate emerging technologies relevant to education;
- Take up ad-hoc duties as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree or above in Computer Science / Information Technology or related discipline;
- At least 5 years of experience in developing Web-based and/or mobile applications;
- 3+ years’ solid experience in system analysis and design, development, and deployment;
- Strong knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Mobile app development for iOS and Android devices using popular frameworks such as React Native, and low-code tools such as Draftbit;
- Website development using HTML5, CSS, PHP, Laravel, JavaScript, Vue.js, Node.js, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, and other Linux-based open-source software; and
- Experience in cloud computing (preferably with Microsoft Azure), GitHub, Docker and CI/CD tools is an advantage;
- Able to work under pressure and strict deadlines;
- Self-motivated, responsible and able to work independently;
- Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills;
- Great team player with positive can-do attitude;
- Good command of spoken and written Chinese and English;
- Candidates with less experience will also be considered as Software Engineer.
