The seminar themed ‘Promote Human-Machine Collaboration, Reduce Children’s Overreliance on AI’ organised by Hong Kong Education City (EdCity), took place on 13 December 2025 at the 10th Children’s Book Fair. The event featured speakers including Mr Eddie Cheung, Founder and President of the Hong Kong Technology Advancement Group Limited; Dr Yvonne Wong, presenter of a parenting radio programme; and Mr Brian Ho, Head of Service of EdCity. The seminar attracted a large audience of parents and educators.
The event explored practical strategies for integrating AI into children’s daily life while safeguarding against over-reliance. Speakers emphasised the enduring importance of fostering children’s spirit of truth-seeking and critical thinking, and shared practical strategies to enhance human–AI collaboration, enabling children to maintain independent thinking while using AI.
In addition, for both parents and children, human-to-human communication remains essential in the age of AI. Speakers noted that parent–child communication, as well as children’s interactions with their peers, plays a vital role in supporting mental well-being and developing social skills. More importantly, parents’ leading by example exserts a key influence on their children.
The event was filled with a vibrant atmosphere. Participants shared that they gained valuable insights, deepened understanding about the influence of AI, and picked up practical strategies in response. The seminar concluded on a high note, blending professional sharing with lively interaction, and opened up new opportunities for families to thrive in the emerging AI era.
