Winter Challenge of Twig 2018

Objectives

Science concepts is related to our everyday life. With Twig, not only abstract science concepts can be explained in a fun way, it can also satisfy students’ curiosity and help them connect science concepts with daily life! Encourage your students to log in to Twig and stand a chance of getting awarded! Details:

Schools that participate in eREAP Plan A and are using Twig

 

Period

  • 12 February 2018 (Mon) – 12 March 2018 (Mon)

 

Challenges

  • Students can follow the 'Steps" below and complete the following assignments: Watch the Films and complete the Quizzes
  • Teachers may encourage students to join, and to nominate for school awards
  • Students may also submit a short essay in addition to the 2 assignments to opt for the student award

Best Participation Awards for Schools

  • The 2 schools with the highest participating rate of students who completed all the assignments, including:
    • Complete watching the 5 assigned films
    • Complete the quizzes
  • Free trial of Twig Experiments, Twig Maths and Twig Science Reporter, until 31 August 2018 for each school

Best Performance Awards for Schools

  • The 2 schools in which students completed all the assignments, including:
    • Complete watching the 5 assigned films
    • Complete the quizzes, with the highest average score
    • Award will go to the 2 schools with the highest participating rate of students
  • Free trial of Twig Experiments, Twig Maths and Twig Science Reporter, until 31 August 2018 for each school

Best Performance Award for Student

  • 1 awardee
  • Watch 5 assigned Films, complete the Quizzes, and
  • Write a 200-word essay (in Chinese or English) to express the analysis, feelings, evaluation and opinion on one of the films
  • The essays would be evaluated by Twig’s professional team
  • Award will go to the student with the highest total scores (average quiz scores plus essay scores, each makes up 50% of the total scores)
  • Click the button/link on the right to submit essay

12-month National Geographic Magazine subscription (Print)

 

Steps

  1. Go to the following Challenge webpages to watch 5 selected films and complete all quizzes within the scheme period based on learning progress:
  2. Click the link of the film to access Twig
  3. Enter username / email and password, then click ‘log in’ on Twig
  4. Watch the film, then go back to the Challenge webpage
  5. Fill in personal information and complete the quiz in the Challenge webpage
  6. Click ‘Submit’
  7. Repeat the steps above to complete the rest of the quizzes
  8. To compete for the Best Performance Award for Student, write an essay with approximately 200 words (in Chinese or English) to analyse, or express your feelings and/or opinions on one of the films. Click HERE to submit your essay.

* The system will only record the score of first attempt for submission more than once.
