The Education Bureau (EDB), in collaboration with Hong Kong Education City (EdCity), will host the annual education technology flagship event ‘Digital Education Week 2026’ (DEW 2026) from 21 to 27 June 2026. This signature event integrates two flagship events, the International Summit on the Use of AI in Language Learning and Teaching 2026 (AIinLT 2026) and the Learning and Teaching Expo (LTE) 2026. The week-long series of intensive activities encompasses a major expo, a principals’ conference, an international experts’ summit, and teaching workshops, creating valuable opportunities for cross-sector exchange and collaboration among the education, technology, and parenting communities, and exploring how innovative technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), can comprehensively enhance teaching and learning effectiveness.
Introducing more new elements
Ms Edith Tse Yuen Ching, Principal Assistant Secretary (Innovation Technology Education), The Education Bureau; Ms Katharine Choi Man Yee, Principal Assistant Secretary (Education Infrastructure), The Education Bureau; Dr Tenny Lam Fung, Executive Director of Hong Kong Education City; and Mr Gary Yeung Man Yui, MH, President, Smart City Consortium, attended the Digital Education Week press conference and introduced a series of highlight activities. Building on last year’s success, which attracted over 24,000 participants, the two flagship events will introduce more new elements to meet the diverse needs of principals, teachers, parents, and students.
AIinLT 2026 is held under the theme ‘AI in Language Education: From Ideas to Implementation to Impact’, gathering renowned international keynote speakers, and featuring over 100 paper presentations, teaching demonstrations, and workshops. LTE 2026, with the theme ‘Reimagining Education: Human-Centric, Future-Ready’, will feature more than 600 local and overseas booths and over 300 programmes, gathering more than 300 speakers from around the world to share future-classroom solutions. In addition to signature highlights such as the ‘Principals’ Conference’ and the ‘Kids’ AI Summit’, the Learning and Teaching Expo (LTE) 2026 debuts a ‘Parents’ Summit’ this year, exploring parent-child education strategies in the age of AI from multiple perspectives and providing all-round support to help parents prepare for an AI-driven future.
Dr Tenny Lam Fung, Executive Director of Hong Kong Education City, said at the press conference, ‘This year’s theme, “Reimagining Education: Human-Centric, Future-Ready”, responds to the most important question of our time—in an era of rapid AI development, technology is a tool, but the core of education remains “people”. At the same time, the Expo enables stakeholders across the education community to exchange views and explore innovation together. EdCity will continue to play its bridging role—connecting the dots into a circle, uniting forces, accelerating the adoption of digital education in schools, and working hand in hand to build a digital education ecosystem.’

Ms Edith Tse Yuen Ching, Principal Assistant Secretary (Innovation Technology Education), said that this year the Education Bureau is once again hosting Digital Education Week to actively encourage schools to accelerate their digital transformation in education—this is not merely a technological innovation, but also marks a paradigm shift in teaching and a reshaping of the education ecosystem.

Ms Katharine Choi Man Yee, Principal Assistant Secretary (Education Infrastructure), The Education Bureau, said that the core philosophy of the Summit is to enable teachers not only to understand AI, but to master it; the value of technology lies in empowering teachers to make good use of artificial intelligence tools to respond precisely to students’ learning needs.

Dr Tenny Lam Fung, Executive Director of Hong Kong Education City, said that technology is a tool, but the core of education remains ‘people’. The Learning and Teaching Expo therefore covers diverse topics including students’ physical and mental well-being, creative education, and cyber security, helping students understand how to use technology safely and responsibly, with home and school building a line of defence together.

Mr Gary Yeung Man Yui, MH, President of Smart City Consortium, said that this year’s newly added ‘Parents’ Summit’ will explore parent-child education strategies in the age of AI from multiple perspectives, covering topics such as students’ physical and mental well-being, nature education, equipping children for an AI-driven future, and building good family relationships.
